Why do people believe so strongly in religion?

I think the idea of religion is prehistoric. I believe Humans were placed here by intelligent beings. Humans were not intelligent to come up with things out of the air. I think religion is simply a tool used to control the weak-minded. In ancient Greece if there was an Earthquake it was because the Gods were angry so they would sacrifice their virgin daughters in order to appease the GODS. Yes the earthquake stopped but not because of the sacrifice but because the earth settled down. Things like Angels, Demons, and faeries. Did not Faeries used to kidnap children and women. Did they not use to take humans to the Faerie realms and once the human returned he lost interest in the world around him. What really is a demon and why do they seem to associate reptiles with demonic beings. Is a Naga really an form of an intelligent reptilian lifeform. Where did George Lucas get his idea for the Movie Star Wars did he have some knowledge of this type of thing happening somewhere in the galaxy. Why did the Dinosaurs really die off. if a Meteor killed one lifeform why didn,t it kill off everything else. Could it be they were killed off by a genetically engineered disease because their creators though of them as a mistake. Why do so many people disappear is it because people grab them or is it because Aliens will kidnap them and use them as food. I think the world has the proof it needs to prove the existence of Extraterrestrials I think they cover it up because of religion. If life was proven to exist on other planets the Catholic Church, Islam, Judaism, Hinduism and Buddhism would have a hard time explaining their lies to their followers and would lose their power over the Population. I feel religion is great if it inspire hope and makes people live a better life. But Allah does grant me a job because I pray to him for it. I get the job because i go out and apply for it. I am guessing I am going to be called blasphemous and Heretical, as well as be excommunicated by every religious group the world has.
