Car mirror question?????

I usually sit in the back seat of the car. When I look up at the rear view mirror I see two images of whoever is driving. I see the chin and nose part of the face clearly, but I can also see, with enough light, the eyes. It seems to me as if the mirror splits light two slightly different directions or something like that.
